Rain, Lasswell, Fina and Lid are the story party reported in independent hands-on previews. Familiar heroes such as Cloud, Tidus and Warrior of Light appear as Visions, which you obtain and equip to add skills and abilities. A Vision is not the same as a permanent story-party member. This page separates the two and lists only confirmed names.
The story party
IGN’s hands-on preview names the four main party members. Rain is a knight, and Lasswell is his childhood friend. Fina is a summoner, and Lid is an aspiring engineer. VGC’s separate preview identifies the same four-character party.
Two independent previews agreeing makes this the confirmed core party. Both previews come from limited press sessions. They do not establish whether others join later in the story. We therefore list only these four as story-party members.
Rain
IGN describes Rain as a knight. He appears in official screenshots speaking on a countryside path as the party sets out. He is part of the four-character party in both IGN’s and VGC’s previews. That is the extent of what our sources confirm.
We have not verified Rain’s full moveset, weapon restrictions or story arc. Previews describe character movesets as separate from equipped Vision skills. Rain will therefore have his own abilities before any Vision is added. We will expand this profile after launch with tested details.
Lasswell
IGN describes Lasswell as Rain’s childhood friend. Lasswell is part of the same reported four-character party. VGC’s preview names Lasswell as part of that group too. Lasswell’s role in combat was not detailed in the sources we kept.
We will not guess Lasswell’s class or abilities. The childhood-friend relationship is the confirmed detail. Profiles will be expanded only with verified information. Spoiler-sensitive story details will be clearly marked.
Fina
IGN describes Fina as a summoner. Fina is part of the reported four-character party. Summoners are a familiar Final Fantasy role, but we will not assume Fina’s abilities from that alone. The official description is simply “summoner”.
The game’s world includes espers, according to official material. How Fina’s role connects to them is not detailed in our sources. We will add that link only if it is confirmed. Until then, “summoner” is the verified description.
Lid
IGN describes Lid as an aspiring engineer. Lid completes the reported four-character party. VGC’s preview identifies the same group. Lid’s combat role was not detailed in our sources.
The world includes airships, according to official material. Whether Lid’s engineering ties into them is not confirmed. We will not draw that connection without a source. Lid’s profile will grow after launch.
What Visions are
Visions bring familiar Final Fantasy heroes into your team-building choices. The PlayStation Blog explains that Visions are obtained and equipped. Equipping a Vision adds skills and abilities to a party member. RPGFan describes Visions as equipment that expands character abilities.
Learned Vision abilities can remain equipped within a cost limit, according to the PlayStation Blog. IGN distinguishes character movesets from equipped Vision skills. That means Visions build on each character rather than replacing them. It also means a Vision appearing in the story is not proof it is permanently playable.
Confirmed Vision heroes
Square Enix names Cloud, Tidus and Warrior of Light among the familiar heroes in Final Fantasy Resonance. They appear as Visions rather than story-party members. Official screenshots also show Cloud in a cinematic scene. These three are the names confirmed by the publisher in our sources.
The PlayStation Blog’s demo announcement headline also revealed Sephiroth. Our sources do not explain his role, so we do not label him as a Vision or an antagonist. We will add his role once it is confirmed. This is not an exhaustive launch roster.
How you get Visions
The PlayStation Blog says Vision acquisition involves events. Our sources do not list which events or when they happen. We therefore do not publish unlock chapters or conditions. Guessing them would risk sending you to the wrong place.
The Digital Deluxe pack’s Mastery Ring boosts affinity with Visions, according to Square Enix Asia. That suggests affinity is part of the Vision system. Official sources do not give numbers for it. We will explain affinity in detail after testing.
Limit Bursts
The Digital Deluxe pack includes an item that unlocks a character’s Fel Meteor Limit Burst. That confirms Limit Bursts exist as character abilities. Official descriptions do not say which character uses Fel Meteor. We will not guess.
Square Enix Asia names the Archwitch’s Grimoire among the pack’s items. Our sources do not detail how other Limit Bursts are learned. We will add verified Limit Burst information after launch. Our Deluxe guide lists the full pack.
How characters fight
Every character fights in strategic turn-based battles with a visible turn order. Hitting enemy weaknesses helps stagger them, and the PlayStation Blog says stagger suppresses enemy action and lowers defense. IGN notes that stagger also grants extra turns. Nintendo’s overview links weaknesses and extra turns to powerful Resonance attacks.
That loop shapes how each character is useful. A character who covers a missing element can open up stagger for the whole party. Visions can then fill gaps in what a character brings on their own. Our beginner tips explain the battle loop step by step.
Building a party around roles
RPGFan’s preview explains choosing complementary Vision roles. IGN stresses elemental coverage and the extra turns gained from stagger. A practical approach is to cover several elements across the party. Balancing support and damage roles is another.
These are recommendations based on preview descriptions, not official rules. The demo lets you test combinations yourself. Try different Visions on each character and watch what changes. Our tier list page explains why we do not rank characters yet.
What we do not list
We do not publish an unverified roster total. We do not list late-game recruits, weapon restrictions or join conditions. We also do not provide a voice-cast table. None of these were confirmed in our sources.
Story spoilers are kept out of this page. When we add story details after launch, they will be clearly marked. Confirmed appearances and recruitment details will be labelled separately. That keeps this page safe to read before you play.
Meeting the characters in the demo
The free demo covers the opening of the story through the end of Chapter 1. It is the easiest way to meet the party yourself. Square Enix estimates about 3–5 hours for it. Your progress carries into the full game.
We have not verified which characters and Visions appear within Chapter 1. Previews covered press sessions that included later areas. Play the demo to see for yourself. Our demo guide explains the platforms and save carryover.
