On PS5 you can download a free demo now and pre-order either the Standard Edition or the Digital Deluxe Edition. The US PlayStation Store lists them at US$49.99 and US$59.99. The demo covers Chapter 1 and its progress carries into the full game, which launches on October 22, 2026. Prices are regional, so your local store may show different amounts.
PS5 release date
Final Fantasy Resonance launches on October 22, 2026, the date shown on the English Steam listing and the US Xbox store. The PlayStation US product page currently offers the game for pre-order. Square Enix’s Japanese site lists PlayStation 5 among the official platforms. Check your regional PlayStation Store for the exact local date.
Exact PS5 unlock times were not confirmed in the sources we checked. Preload timing was not established either. We do not publish a countdown built on an assumed midnight launch. Our release date guide tracks confirmed launch information across platforms.
PS5 prices and editions
The PlayStation US store lists two digital editions: Standard at US$49.99 and Digital Deluxe at US$59.99. Both are listed separately from the free demo on the same product page. These are US prices, and other regions show local currency. Confirm the price in your own store before buying.
Digital Deluxe combines the base game with the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack. That pack adds a chocobo appearance item, an item that unlocks a character’s Fel Meteor Limit Burst, an accessory and consumables. None of it is needed to finish the story. Our Deluxe guide lists every item so you can judge the upgrade yourself.
The free PS5 demo
The PlayStation Blog announced the PS5 demo on September 3, 2026. It covers the opening of the story through the end of Chapter 1. The demo has its own entry on the PlayStation US product page, so you can download it without buying the game. Square Enix estimates about 3–5 hours for that chapter.
PlayStation’s official Demo Announce Trailer, embedded above, confirms the chapter scope and save continuity. Progress can carry into the full game, according to both PlayStation and Square Enix. That means your demo hours are not wasted. Start the demo now and continue from your save on launch day.
Demo download versus purchase
The PS5 product page shows the free demo and the paid editions as separate options. Make sure you choose the demo entry if you only want to try the game. The Standard and Digital Deluxe buttons are pre-order purchases. Reading the label before you confirm avoids an accidental pre-order.
Steam notes that some level restrictions apply in the demo. We did not verify the exact numerical caps, so we do not list them. The restriction does not stop you from finishing Chapter 1. It only limits how far you can push your party before the full release.
Pre-order bonus on PS5
The pre-order bonus is the Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack. Steam lists its contents as the Magitek Airship Passkey, Knight’s Greatsword, Chestplate of Preparation and Magicite Shard, one each. It also includes Tent and Mist Potion, three each. Square Enix Asia states that pre-order eligibility ends at release.
Bonus items are claimed at the postbox outside the inn in the Town of Mitra after sufficient story progress. A separate early-purchase bonus also exists, called the Squire Kickstart Pack on Nintendo’s listing. Deadlines are worded differently between stores, so check the PlayStation listing for its own terms. Our pre-order bonus guide covers both packs.
How Final Fantasy Resonance plays on PS5
VGC’s Tom Regan played the hands-on session primarily on PS5. Previews describe a classic turn-based RPG with HD-2D visuals. Battles centre on weaknesses, stagger and extra turns, building towards Resonance attacks. The PlayStation Blog explains that stagger suppresses enemy actions and lowers defense.
Party members are Rain, Lasswell, Fina and Lid in the reported preview sessions. Legacy heroes such as Cloud, Tidus and Warrior of Light appear as equippable Visions. Learned Vision abilities can stay equipped within a cost limit. Our characters guide separates party members from Visions.
PS5 Pro and performance claims
Some community videos were recorded on PS5 Pro and uploaded in 4K at 60 frames per second. A video’s upload format is not a verified native rendering specification. We found no confirmed PS5 Pro enhancement, VRR mode or measured frame rate. Those details are therefore left off this page.
PlayStation’s announce trailer description confirms the PS5 version without giving any performance benchmark. If Square Enix publishes PS5 or PS5 Pro modes, we will add them with a source. Until then, the demo is the best way to judge performance yourself. It costs nothing and runs on the same hardware you will use.
Collector’s Edition and physical copies
Square Enix’s North American store sells a Collector’s Edition bundle with a physical copy of the game. The bundle also includes a Digital Deluxe upgrade code and collectibles: an acrylic set, an art book, a soundtrack and a trading card. A standalone Collector’s Goods Box is sold too, and it contains neither the game nor the upgrade code. Regional bundles in Asia and Japan have their own contents.
Check the platform printed on any physical bundle before buying it for PS5. Availability of collector’s items changes quickly, so the store page is the only reliable source. Do not assume the North American upgrade code applies in every region. Our Collector’s Edition guide explains the bundle and goods box side by side.
Languages and getting started
Steam lists eight supported languages, with full audio in English and Japanese. We did not separately verify the PS5 language list, so check the PlayStation Store page for your region. Final Fantasy Resonance is a single-player game. Both the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions contain the full base game.
Once the demo is installed, focus on learning the battle timeline and enemy weaknesses. Stagger opens enemies to heavier damage and can grant extra turns. Visions broaden what each party member can do. Our beginner tips walk through those systems step by step.
Reviews and Metacritic
No Metascore or user score was available when we checked Metacritic. The page showed “tbd” for both critic and user scores. That means scores had not been published, not that the game scored zero. Full reviews normally appear around launch.
Hands-on previews from IGN, VGC and RPGFan were positive about the classic approach. They covered limited sessions, so they are not full-game verdicts. Our review roundup summarises what the previews actually say. Playing the free demo is the most reliable way to decide for yourself.
Where to buy on PS5
Use the official PlayStation Store product page for your region. It shows the correct edition names, local prices and the demo entry. It will also show the confirmed release date for your country. Avoid unofficial resellers whose listings may not match the official editions.
This page was checked on October 19, 2026. PlayStation Store prices and bonus terms can change before launch. We re-check the listing as release approaches and date every update. Send us the store URL if something on this page no longer matches.
