Final Fantasy Resonance releases on October 22, 2026. That date appears on the English Steam listing and in the release field of the US Xbox store. The Japanese official specifications list October 23 for the Japanese Steam release, so the exact calendar day depends on your region and store. A free demo covering Chapter 1 is already available if you want to start before launch.
The confirmed launch date
October 22, 2026 is the advertised launch date for Final Fantasy Resonance. The English-language Steam product page shows it, and the US Xbox listing for the Digital Deluxe Edition uses the same date in its release field. Two separate storefronts agreeing on one day makes it the reference date for English-speaking regions. When this page was checked on October 19, 2026, launch was three days away.
Nintendo’s official Switch 2 announcement trailer also names the launch date in its description. Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show trailer, published on September 16, 2026, promotes the story and the platform launch without moving the date. You can watch that trailer at the top of this page without leaving the site. Neither video changes the schedule, so October 22 remains the date to plan around.
Why Japan’s Steam date says October 23
Square Enix’s Japanese official site lists the Japanese Steam release as October 23 rather than October 22. The Japanese specifications draw this distinction explicitly for Steam, separately from the other platforms. It is a regional listing difference, not an announced delay. Nothing in the sources we checked suggests the English launch has moved.
Because of this, we do not promise one universal local date for every country. If you live in Japan or buy through a Japanese storefront, use the date your own store shows. Everyone else should treat October 22 as the advertised launch while still checking their regional listing. The same rule applies to any other region where a store shows a different day.
Platforms launching on release day
The official specifications list five platform families: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. On PC the game is sold through Steam and through the Microsoft Store as Xbox on PC. Switch and Switch 2 are separate editions on Nintendo’s store rather than one shared product. Final Fantasy Resonance is a single-player game on every platform.
Nintendo’s announcement trailer description names both Nintendo editions alongside the launch date. The PlayStation US store and the Xbox US store both list the game for pre-order. Choose the store you actually play on, because each edition is a separate purchase. Our platform guides explain the differences for PC, PS5, Switch and Switch 2 in more detail.
What is launching on October 22
Final Fantasy Resonance is a single-player RPG with HD-2D visuals and strategic turn-based combat. Steam credits Square Enix and LANCARSE Ltd. as developers, with Square Enix as publisher. Battles revolve around enemy weaknesses, stagger, extra turns and Resonance attacks. Familiar Final Fantasy heroes join your team-building choices as equippable Visions.
Steam lists eight supported languages, with full audio in English and Japanese. Hands-on previews from IGN and VGC estimate the main story at around 30–40 hours. Those are pre-release estimates from limited sessions, not measured player averages. Our length guide explains what those numbers do and do not cover.
Pre-order status and prices
The PlayStation US product page offers Final Fantasy Resonance for pre-order. It lists the Standard Edition at US$49.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at US$59.99. These are US storefront prices, so other regions will show local pricing. Always confirm the price on your own store before buying.
Pre-ordering also matters for the bonus content. Square Enix Asia states that pre-order eligibility for the Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack ends at release. Some stores also advertise a separate early-purchase bonus, which Nintendo’s listing calls the Squire Kickstart Pack. Our pre-order bonus guide lists every item and explains where to claim them.
Editions available at launch
Two digital purchase options appear on the PlayStation US store: Standard and Digital Deluxe. Digital Deluxe combines the base game with the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack of in-game items. The Xbox store also sells that pack as a separate upgrade for owners of the base game. You do not need Deluxe to play the full story.
In North America, Square Enix’s own store sells a Collector’s Edition bundle that includes a physical copy of the game. A standalone Collector’s Goods Box is also listed, and it does not include the game. Regional bundles differ, so check the store for your country. Our edition guides compare all of these options side by side.
You can play the demo before launch
You do not have to wait for October 22 to start playing. Square Enix released a free demo covering the opening of the story through the end of Chapter 1. The PlayStation Blog announced the PS5 demo on September 3, 2026. The demo is available on the announced console and PC platforms.
Demo progress can carry into the full game, according to both Square Enix and the PlayStation Blog. Steam notes that some level restrictions apply in the demo. Square Enix estimates about 3–5 hours for that opening chapter. Playing it now means you can continue from your save on launch day.
What has not been confirmed yet
Exact regional unlock times were not established in the sources we checked. Preload schedules and any early-access window were not confirmed either. For that reason this page does not show a countdown based on an assumed midnight launch. A countdown built on a guess could easily be wrong by several hours.
If your store shows a specific unlock hour, trust that listing over any fan-made timer. We will add official unlock times here once Square Enix or a platform holder publishes them. Until then, the release date itself is the confirmed information. Review scores are not available yet either, because the full game has not launched.
Where to check your local date
The safest way to confirm your launch day is to open the product page in your own regional store. Steam, the PlayStation Store, the Nintendo Store and the Xbox Store each display a release date for your country. Those pages also show local prices and the editions on sale in your region. Avoid third-party key sellers, whose listings may not match official information.
This page was checked on October 19, 2026, three days before the advertised launch. Store details can change, so we re-check dates and editions as release approaches. If your store shows something different, send us the page URL and we will review it. Corrections are dated so you can see when information last changed.
