Yes, Final Fantasy Resonance is coming to PC. It is sold on Steam and through the Microsoft Store as Xbox on PC, and both PC storefronts were included in Square Enix’s free demo announcement. The game launches on October 22, 2026. Pick one storefront and stay with it, because saves should not be assumed to move between competing PC stores.

Which PC stores sell Final Fantasy Resonance

Square Enix’s Japanese specifications list Windows and Steam among the official platforms. The Steam product page is live, with the release date, developer credits, supported languages and the demo download. Microsoft’s store lists the game for Xbox and PC as well. Those are the two official PC storefront families.

The Xbox listing supports Xbox Play Anywhere, according to Microsoft’s product page. Play Anywhere is Microsoft’s own feature for its store, so it does not extend to a Steam purchase. If you play on both an Xbox console and a Windows PC, that difference may decide which store you choose. Steam buyers should simply treat the game as a Steam product.

PC release date

The English Steam listing gives a release date of October 22, 2026. The US Xbox store shows the same date in its release field. Square Enix’s Japanese site lists the Japanese Steam release as October 23 instead. Check the date your own Steam region displays.

Exact unlock times for PC were not confirmed in the sources we checked. Preload timing was not confirmed either. We therefore do not publish a PC countdown based on guesswork. Our release date guide collects the confirmed launch information for every platform.

The free PC demo

A free demo is available on PC, and the Steam product page offers it as a download. Square Enix’s announcement explicitly includes both PC storefront families. The demo covers the opening of the story through the end of Chapter 1. Steam notes that some level restrictions apply within the demo.

Square Enix estimates the demo at about 3–5 hours. Progress can continue into the full game, according to Square Enix and the PlayStation Blog. Save carryover is not proof that a save moves between Steam and the Microsoft Store, however. Play the demo on the same store where you plan to buy the full game.

Prices and editions on PC

The Xbox US store lists a Digital Deluxe Edition and also sells the Deluxe upgrade separately. Digital Deluxe adds the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack to the base game. Steam lists that pack’s consumables: Tent, Mist Potion, Mist Ether and Phoenix Down x5 each, plus Remedy x3. Prices vary by region, so check the store page for your country.

For reference, the PlayStation US store lists Standard at US$49.99 and Digital Deluxe at US$59.99. Those are console prices in one region, not PC prices. Steam and Microsoft display their own local pricing. Our Deluxe guide breaks down exactly what the extra money buys.

PC system requirements

Steam publishes system requirements on the product page. We did not find a second official specification source to corroborate them. For that reason we point you to the Steam page instead of copying the numbers here. The Steam listing is the version that will be kept current.

The demo is the most practical test of your hardware. Because it is free, you can see how the game runs on your own PC before paying. It also lets you test your controller and preferred language. Steam lists eight languages, with full audio in English and Japanese.

What is not confirmed for PC

Several common PC questions have no verified answer yet. We found no confirmation of Steam Deck verification, ultrawide support or mod compatibility. Cross-store save transfer between Steam and the Microsoft Store is not confirmed either. Steam-to-console cross-save was also not established.

We will not fill those gaps with assumptions. A marketing video cannot prove technical features such as rendering resolution. When Square Enix or a store page confirms any of these, we will add it with a source. Until then, treat each one as unknown.

What the PC version plays like

Final Fantasy Resonance is the same single-player, turn-based RPG on every platform. It uses HD-2D visuals, enemy weaknesses, stagger, extra turns and Resonance attacks. Visions let familiar Final Fantasy heroes add skills and abilities to your party. Steam credits Square Enix and LANCARSE Ltd. as developers.

Hands-on previews describe an overworld, towns, dungeons and Sanctums to explore. IGN and VGC estimate a story of around 30–40 hours. Those figures come from limited preview sessions rather than measured averages. Our beginner tips explain the battle systems before you start.

Pre-order and early-purchase bonuses on PC

Steam lists the pre-order bonus as the Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack. It contains the Magitek Airship Passkey, Knight’s Greatsword, Chestplate of Preparation and Magicite Shard, one each, plus Tent and Mist Potion, three each. Square Enix Asia states that pre-order eligibility ends at release. The Passkey changes the airship’s appearance; it does not unlock early airship travel.

A separate early-purchase bonus also exists, which Nintendo’s listing names the Squire Kickstart Pack. Steam and console listings word their deadlines differently, so read the terms on the store you use. Bonus items are claimed at the postbox outside the inn in the Town of Mitra after sufficient story progress. Our pre-order bonus guide explains each pack in full.

Physical editions and PC players

Square Enix’s North American store sells a Collector’s Edition bundle that includes a physical copy of the game and a Digital Deluxe upgrade code. The bundle also contains collectibles such as an acrylic set, an art book, a soundtrack and a trading card. A standalone Collector’s Goods Box excludes both the game and the upgrade code. Regional bundles differ from the North American version.

Check which platform a bundle’s game copy is for before buying it as a PC player. The store listing for your region is the place to confirm that. If you only want the digital extras, Digital Deluxe on Steam or the Microsoft Store is the simpler route. Our Collector’s Edition guide compares the bundle and the goods box.

Steam or Xbox on PC: how to choose

If your library and friends are on Steam, the Steam version keeps everything in one place. If you also own an Xbox Series X|S, the Microsoft Store version supports Xbox Play Anywhere. Both stores carry the free demo, so you can try the game in either launcher. Whichever you pick, start the demo there so your save is ready at launch.

Buy from the official store pages rather than third-party key sellers. Official listings show the correct edition, region and price. They also show which bonus content applies to your purchase. Pre-order and early-purchase bonuses can differ between stores.
