The demo covers the opening of the story through the end of Chapter 1, and your progress carries into the full game. Follow the objective the game displays, explore before moving on, and use the chapter to learn weaknesses, stagger and Visions. We have not yet verified every objective, chest location or boss strategy, so this page focuses on how to approach the chapter rather than an invented step list.

What the demo walkthrough covers

Square Enix describes the demo as the opening through the end of Chapter 1. Steam’s demo description identifies the same chapter boundary. Everything after Chapter 1 belongs to the full game. This walkthrough therefore covers only the opening chapter.

Square Enix estimates about 3–5 hours for that chapter. Demo progress can continue into the full game, according to the PlayStation Blog. Steam notes that some level restrictions apply. Those three facts shape how to approach the demo.

Why there is no step list yet

A trustworthy walkthrough has to follow the exact objective shown in game. We have not yet reviewed the demo scene by scene in the English build. Reference videos exist, but their captions returned no text and we have not checked every scene. Publishing guessed steps or chest coordinates would mislead you.

Instead, this page gives a verified scope and a practical approach. When we add steps, each will list the destination, required interaction, encounter and next objective. Optional exploration will be kept separate from the main route. Timestamps from footage will only be added after we review the matching scene.

Before you start

Download the demo on the platform and store where you plan to buy the full game. Save carryover is not proof of cross-platform or cross-store transfer. On Nintendo hardware, match the Switch or Switch 2 edition, since saves do not transfer between them. On PC, stay with either Steam or the Microsoft Store.

Set aside a few hours, since Square Enix estimates 3–5 for the chapter. Keep a separate save if you want to revisit decisions. That is general advice rather than a confirmed requirement of this game. It costs nothing and gives you a fallback.

Follow the on-screen objective

The game displays your current objective, and that is the route to follow. Read where it sends you and what you need to do there. When you complete it, check the next objective before wandering off. This keeps you on the main path while leaving room to explore.

If you get stuck, reread the objective text rather than guessing. It names the destination or the person you need. Exploring nearby areas usually reveals the way forward. We will document any genuinely confusing steps once verified.

Explore before moving on

Previews describe an overworld, towns, dungeons and Sanctums in the full game. Exploring each area before advancing the objective is a sensible habit. It helps you find items and side content while the area is open. Official product information also describes optional content.

We have not verified any permanently missable content in Chapter 1. An inaccessible chest is not automatically permanently missable. Still, exploring thoroughly is the safest approach. Our missables guide tracks what is actually verified.

Learn the battle timeline

Battles show a turn order timeline, and reading it is the first skill to practise. The PlayStation Blog advises watching the timeline when planning attacks. RPGFan’s preview explains timeline planning as part of combat. Use Chapter 1’s battles to get used to it.

Look ahead to see which enemy acts next. Decide whether to attack, defend or prepare a bigger move. Over time this becomes the core of every fight. The demo is the low-risk place to learn it.

Exploit weaknesses and stagger

Enemy weaknesses are central to combat. Hitting a weakness helps you stagger an enemy. According to the PlayStation Blog, stagger suppresses enemy action and lowers defense. IGN’s preview stresses elemental coverage and the extra turns stagger provides.

Nintendo’s official overview connects weaknesses, extra turns and Resonance attacks. Staggering enemies builds towards those stronger attacks. Try to bring a range of elements into each fight. That makes stagger easier to trigger.

Equip and test Visions

Visions let familiar Final Fantasy heroes add skills and abilities to your party. The PlayStation Blog explains that Visions are obtained and equipped. Learned Vision abilities can remain equipped within a cost limit. That lets you build each character in different ways.

RPGFan’s preview describes choosing complementary Vision roles. Try combining support and damage roles across the party. The demo lets you test combinations before the full game. Notes from the demo will help you plan your launch party.

Reference playthroughs

YouTube creator Rubhen925 uploaded a no-commentary full demo playthrough on PS5 Pro. It runs 4:18:46 and was published on September 5, 2026. The same creator uploaded Part 1 on September 3, which runs 1:39:08. Both are reference runs rather than verified guides.

We have verified the video metadata but have not reviewed the footage scene by scene. Watching them can show you the chapter’s flow if you prefer to see it first. Be aware they show one player’s route, not an official one. Spoilers for Chapter 1 are naturally included.

Managing the level restriction

Steam says some level restrictions apply in the demo. We did not verify the exact caps. The restriction stops you from over-developing your party before launch. It does not prevent you from finishing Chapter 1.

If your levels stop rising, focus on tactics instead. Use weaknesses, stagger and Vision abilities to win fights. That practice will pay off in the full game. Your save carries into the full game when it launches.

Your party in the demo

Hands-on previews report Rain, Lasswell, Fina and Lid as the story party. IGN describes Rain as a knight, Lasswell as his childhood friend, Fina as a summoner and Lid as an aspiring engineer. We have not verified when each character joins within Chapter 1. We will add join points only after reviewing the chapter.

Character movesets and equipped Vision skills are separate, according to IGN’s preview. That means each party member has their own abilities before any Vision is added. Learn what each character does on their own first. Then use Visions to cover gaps such as missing elements.

After Chapter 1

The demo ends at the end of Chapter 1. Keep your save on the same platform and store. When the full game launches on October 22, 2026, continue from that save. Japanese Steam lists October 23.

Our walkthrough hub will cover the full campaign after release. Chapter sections will be added only after a verified playthrough. Each will include objectives, navigation and spoiler warnings. Until then, the demo chapter is the playable content.

Help us verify the route

If you have played the demo, you can help improve this page. Send us the exact objective text, where it led and what you did there. Screenshots or clips make verification much faster. Include your platform and game version.

We will add verified steps with credit if you want it. Every addition will be dated. Unverified claims will stay off the page. That keeps this walkthrough reliable.
